Decorating Kitchen Walls With Visual Allure

There is a room in every home that becomes the heart and center of one’s surroundings. For some this room might be the family room, library or home office. In the majority of households today the room that seems to have the most congestion and activities that take place is the kitchen. We seem to gather in the kitchen with laughter and tales of the day. This place does much more for the human sole than just provide a place to fill one’s stomach.

In most home designs the kitchen is the focal point. From most other rooms of the home you are able to see right into the kitchen. Because of this feature the kitchen becomes an important feature of your home decor.

Kitchen wall treatments are the key to decorating this busy room. Different wall treatments can be used to define a space by changing the texture, material or color. Kitchen wall treatments can create a space within a space.

It is best to decide which wall in the kitchen will be the focal point and then treat that space differently from those spaces around it. Experiment with different tones and shades and try varying the depth and texture for a truly unique concept.

A distinctive tile backsplash has the ability to create s focal point in the room. It is usually small and inexpensive. Vinyl material is best suited for kitchens since it is easy to clean and very durable. It comes in a vast array of colors and patterns. Tiles can be more creative and will let you experiment with different tones. Tiles come in many different materials, shapes and styles.

Wallpaper borders can also be used to bring depth to your kitchen. If you do not like borders where the patterns keep repeating try a border that tells you a story. You can use wallpaper cut-outs and hand painted words that will make your family and friends feel comfortable. This will also be a conversation starter when neighbors arrive for a visit. Wallpaper borders are also not expensive and you do not need any special skills to apply wallpaper borders.

Another idea for the not so perfect wall is wood wall paneling. This decor gives your wall visual interest and one of its advantages is it is easy to maintain. Smudges and fingerprints do not show up easily, so you do not have to worry if somebody drops by unexpectedly.

For a bit of comfort and attractive appeal try wall plaques. This is a simple way to increase relaxation and beauty. If you have an unused wall or nook, make this space into a functional decorative storage space. Try hanging shelves for stylish organization. You might also try a fancy wrought iron hanger so that you can place your decorative plates along the wall. If your kitchen has a certain theme, you can purchase plates that match or compliment the theme. Framed family photos or cooking utensils placed just right can give you that pizzazz that you are looking for.

To give you that outdoor feeling indoors, a great idea is to hang metal wall planters. They are a versatile form of art that can transform you kitchen into a room with designer appeal. The metal wall planters can be modified with different flowers and foliage. They never look tired or outdated.

Now all you need to do is grab a pen and paper, make yourself a cup of coffee and sit at your kitchen table. Gaze out at your kitchen walls and let the creative side of you come alive. Building Your Wooden Storage Shed or Storage Shed Kits

Building your first wooden storage shed can be a daunting undertaking. You have not done this type of project before but you know it is absolutely necessary. You have so much stuff stored in the basement, the attic and the garage that there is just no room left.

Well if you are a complete novice then you might want to start by purchasing a storage shed kit. The entire shed is in a box and you just erect it. If you are slightly more adventurous and feel like you can follow a good shed plan you can start from scratch. There are some basic skills that are required but they can be learned as the project progresses.  Here are some basic tips in building your first shed.

The very first thing to consider is the size of the shed required. You want to build it large enough so that you still have storage room when you have cleared out all the stuff from the attic, garage, and basement. Also consider the size of your lot. Do you want to keep some of the backyard open so that you can still use it? There will be building codes to adhere to in your jurisdiction as well.  The height of the shed and proximity to your neighbour’s lot line must also be taken into account. Find out where the hydro, water, and cable lines are that run under the surface of your property so that you do not build over them or dig into them.

Now that you know the size and location of the shed the next thing to do is find a storage shed plan that suits your need. It is better not to take on a project that is so detailed that a journeyman carpenter’s ticket is needed. Keep it simple but be sure that the design will blend into the surroundings. Choose a plan that supplies a parts list that clearly lays out quantities and has cut sizes for all the elements (i.e. Ceiling rafters, wall studs etc.). This will make the erection of the shed much simpler.

Next you will want to decide on the type of foundation the shed will sit on. There are two types of foundations to choose from. If you live in a fairly dry climate where the soil stays relatively dry year round a simple skid foundation will suffice. With this type of foundation the shed can actually be moved in the future. If you live where there is an abundance of rain and or snow than a cement slab foundation might be best. This one takes a little more work to put in and is also more permanent than the skid.

The shed walls will be next on the agenda. Do you want to insulate the walls? If so the easiest way is to have plywood walls on the inside and outside with a simple lattice in between. You can also use fibre-glass or rock wool fibre batting stuffed in between the wall studs. The batting is really inexpensive and really easy to apply.

Your next concern will be the shed doors. Double doors are great if you are going to be moving items like lawn mowers and wheel barrows in an out of the building. Should you be using the building as a workshop with tools and building materials being moved in and out double doors will also benefit this activity. Proper alignment of doors is critical to assure that they open and close properly so take a lot of care when measuring for them

Finally the roof design for the shed should be decided upon. A good durable roof that will withstand the weather and also be attractive is important. A flat roof in a climate where there is considerable snowfall in the winter may not be such a good idea.  A better choice would be a gable or gambrel (barn roof) that will shed the snow in winter and either one is ascetically pleasing. Roof trusses are needed for both roof types but they are quite easily built.

You know, I spend a lot of time in my kitchen. Every morning I’m sitting at my kitchen table having my usual cup of coffee or two. If I happen to be at home during the noon hour, here I am, back in my kitchen fixing myself something to eat for lunch. In the late afternoon, once again, I’m back in my kitchen preparing the evening meal for myself and my family.

I have noticed over the years that the one thing most kitchens have is a clock hanging on the wall. I have also noticed that the style of kitchen clock hanging on the kitchen wall can make the difference between dull and unnoticeable and charming and sensational.

In order to compliment the style of your kitchen with a kitchen wall clock that will be a charming sensation, all you have to do is know what kitchen wall clock will add these attributes to your kitchen’s atmosphere.

So okay, let the truth be known that the thought of writing this information on kitchen wall clocks wasn’t all my idea. I received an email from the contact page of the website the other day. It was a note from a lady by the name of Catherine.

Catherine had written me a note saying that she was browsing through the website and came across "Wall Clocks." As she further explored this section of the website, she was so impressed by the information on kitchen wall clocks, she decided to write me to express her appreciation. So this is actually how I got the idea to write about kitchen wall clocks.

So let me see. Where do I start? How about I go over different styles of kitchen decor and then I will make suggestions of what style kitchen wall clock might be the perfect match.

When it comes to kitchen styles or decor, you have Art Deco, Country, Modern and Retro. The colors of your kitchen may or in some cases may not influence the style of kitchen wall clock you hang on your kitchen wall. This all depends on basically on the type of kitchen wall clock you choose to hang.

I will start out with the Art Deco kitchen. This type of kitchen decor usually has some sort of wall art hanging on the walls. This could be plaques in the forms of fruit or vegetables. Your choice is just a matter of which clock will best match up with the colors and style of your kitchen.

So now you ask me, "What style of kitchen wall clock would be the perfect solution to this modern day mess hall?" Well let’s have a look. You could go with the Stainless Steel Kitchen wall clock and keep the metal thing going in your kitchen. You could go with the Round Mirror or the Thin Mirror kitchen wall clock. That is, of course, if mirrors in your kitchen are your thing.

You can go with the Studio 24 Collection. This stunning contemporary kitchen wall clock will turn heads. Then you have the Deco Retro Kitchen Wall Clock. This white porcelain frame is accented wonderfully by retro-styled red Arabic numerals and a red center dial. Maybe?

For those of you who really want the finishing touch to the retro diner look in your kitchen you have to go with a retro logo kitchen wall clock. Here you have clocks such as the Coca Cola Double Bubble Clock, the Nesbitt's LTD Edition Double Bubble Clock and the Orange Crush Double Bubble Clock. So now you know that when it comes to kitchen wall clocks you have choices. So many choices that it is mind boggling. My suggestion, take your time to before you choose your time.
