The many meanings of pink roses are as beautiful as the rose itself. Help redecorating room...?

I have had my room as it is for 9 years now, and I'm almost 17. My parents have given me the okay to redecorate my room and I am quite capable of DIY projects, but I can't use a lot of money and have to use my existing furniture. Right now my walls are a dusty rose color, I have a victorian style border and white furniture. I have a wall that is used up already b/c I have my closet and a built in desk. Other than that my two side walls have nothing and the back wall has two windows. I have a large white dresser and a full sized bed as well as a small bookshelf and nightstand. I like classical looks, and really like my boarder that I have already. I have three old silloettes in black and gold frames that I love and would like to use to create a new look. I would really like to clean up my room as well, but there's not a lot of storage. Any organization tips would be appreciated as well as ideas on how to make my room look grown up! Thanks!

If you like the border that is up, pull a color out of it. Try to find a color different from the rose color; it will change the looks of the room completely. Don't worry about a lot of money. If you like the furniture color (I love white furniture), keep it. If you don't like it, paint it. Rough if up a little with sandpaper and paint it. I don't care for stained wood furniture. Paint the ceiling a nice bright white and paint the woodwork and door frames and windows white. (if you parents are ok with this). I love yellow. I don't know what color is in the room. But if you want a new looks, tear down the border, paint the ceiling and walls and then put up new. However you do it is fine. Just pick a pretty color. I don't like 2 different colored walls. I prefer one color. Use your silouettes over the bed. Hang them at an angle....stagger them. Don't try to make them even. Decorate with old books (pick them up for a for under a dollar at the thrift store or a yard sale. ) I stack mine and set things on top of them. Get some old hankies, doilies, scarves and decorate with them. At your windows, I would hang either scarves, toppers, or curtains....I prefer toppers or scarves and mini blinds. Or you can fold the hankies in half (triangle) and pin them on a rod to make a cute window treatment. If you have any more questions, please let me know. Because of the aesthetic qualities the flower holds, it has been a number one choice as an object to convey the expressions and emotions of beauty, passion, respect and the most important of all; love.

There are many flowers that convey the expression of love of on to their significant other. The most commonly known flower is the rose. Belonging in the genus rosa this flora is the most versatile way to convey one's varying range of emotions and expressions depending on the pigmentation and arrangement of the flower.

The crimson red is red as the color of the blood flowing through one's veins that all eventually end up at the heart; the heart that which society has defined it simultaneous with romantic love. The red rose has been a popular choice as a gift for one to another to convey their feelings of love from one to another from special days such as Valentines Day, birthdays, and anniversaries to even casual days just to remind their significant other that they love them.

The red rose also has additional meanings corresponding to the amount of stems that is received by person.

A dozen red roses convey the message "For the dozens of ways I love you."

Two red dozen roses express the meaning "For each and every hour of the day I love you." Three and four dozen red roses proclaim the message of "True love" and "Unconditional love" in the respected order.

Red isn't the only color that a rose can have. Colors can range from pink, white, yellow, purple, burgundy, orange and even the once impossible blue. The pink rose can mean a variety of expressions depending on the shade of pink it is. In general the pink rose symbolizes grace, sophistication and elegance which were certain attributes that young women from the Victorian Era, where florigraphy originates from, were trying to achieve. A darker shade of pink can also mean gratefulness and appreciation and a lighter shade of pink can express admiration and sympathy. The pink rose can also symbolize the love within friendship.

The white rose means innocence, purity, friendship, reverence and humility. The yellow Montreal rose can express the emotion of joy and can mean friendship or platonic love. It can also have a negative emotion such as jealousy and can also mean infidelity. An orange rose symbolizes enthusiasm and desire. The purple rose can convey the message of protection usually paternal love. The burgundy rose holds the meaning of beauty and therefore a favorite among mature women. The once non-existent blue rose which is now a possibility due to hybrid and genetic engineering holds the meaning of mystery as it used to never exist but was however substituted by dying a white rose with a blue dye.

In relation to this is the black rose which can symbolize hatred and death but can also mean positive meanings such as rejuvenation and rebirth. However unlike the blue rose this rose does not exist. Roses that are called a black rose are just a very dark shade of red.

Other than a fresh coat of paint, there is just no easier nor more cost-effective way to completely change the look of many rooms in your home than to add some new cushiony comforts with a few casually tossed and thoughtfully selected decorative pillows.

I have had three couches in my life over the last decade or so, but you’d think I redecorated my living room monthly. What’s my secret? Among my collection of personal home décor items are about 40 fabulous decorative throw pillows that suit my changing moods, changing seasons, and ever-changing mind! Whenever I get bored with the look of my room, which is about as often as I get bored with my wardrobe, I just change it all up super-quick by rearranging my decorative throw pillows and by playing around with the different colours, textures, shapes, arrangement, and styles available at FashionWindowTreatments.com.

My sofa is definitely a one-of-a-kind conversation piece, like a chameleon. It’s the cozy center of our home’s comfort and the place for all of us to come together, talk, play Scrabble, or snuggle up under a coordinating blanket. Your sofa, too, can add sparkling new life to the same-old-same-old whenever you redecorate this easy way. I like to call it “pillorating”. Allow me to elaborate upon my easy schemes.

This same concept can be used in other areas of the home, such as the dining room using chair seat cushions or the bathroom by changing the patterns on your long shower curtains.

My favorite decorative throw pillow of all is in gorgeous black velvet, appliquéd with red roses and bright green velvet leaves that set off the red and draw the eye as a good work of art will do. This throw pillow adds so much texture to our otherwise ordinary, somewhat drab sage green velour sofa. And it cost a fraction of the price of a new piece of art!

I move my pillows from sofas to chairs, and even throw them in pile on the floor for some extra fun seating! Sometimes I use the sofa pillows upstairs in our master suite. And when guests come to stay, I dress up the guestroom, getting creative by designing a haven of delight for our houseguests. All with decorative throw pillows! I try to choose colors and styles I know will suit the tastes of our guests, and it always works!

I get excited just thinking about all the possibilities of looks that are achievable by simply adding a few new decorative throw pillows to your home’s collection. When you tire of them, simply store your decorative throw pillows in plastic until it’s time for a change again. And then, when you bring them back out later, you’ll love all the looks they offer all over again!

Recently I have started thinking about decorative throw pillows yet again, because I bought a mid-century Danish modern, low-riser sofa in turquoise and teak. Sounds like a hard thing to work into your room’s décor without having to start from scratch, right? Nope! Do you know what this white stuff in my flower pot is?

I found it today. I got the flower and its pot on Mother's Day. The white stuff feels kinda like styrofoam but i can break it pretty easily by pinching it.Then is becomes white dust. What is it and should i remove it from the pot?

Vermiculite or perlite. More than likely perlite since this is white and vermiculite is more grey in color. It is a type of styrofoam and it keeps the soil ariated , loose and helps with drainage of the soil. GL
