Difference Between Sisal And Sea-grass Rugs

Many people get confused between sisal and sea-grass rugs, they are almost the same expect that the sea-grass rugs have a bit more advantages than the sisal rugs. Sisal does have a beautiful look, but gets spoiled easily. Sisal being very thick creates a fifth wall effect in the room. Sisal rugs even when washed with water or with fabric cleansing detergent leave some water marks behind. Some people also wet the whole area rug and wash it instead of wiping it with a wet cloth. This helps in avoiding the water marks. Sea-grass rugs are generally stain resistance are very easy to clean. Even if brushed with a cleaning brush then also the dust gets wiped easily and the rug looks clean and new.

Sisal: A rugged and extremely long fiber, it is obtained from Agave plant leaves. Almost half of the sisal produced rugs and goods come from South Africa. Originally Sisal is an indigenous American plant. The sisal that comes from South Africa is longer, and finer. It is brighter than the American variety, and makes it much easier to dye it with various colors. The rugs from the African variety of Sisal are weaved in Belgium. Dark color sisal rugs are very attractive and also camouflage dirt upto some extent. In terms of overall durability and performance, sisal area rugs are preferred and should be used in less traffic areas like bed rooms or formal living rooms. In living rooms or some other heavy traffic areas sisal rugs can get dirty very soon and can be very hard to clean.

Sea-grass: South Asia is the native place where sea-grass grows. It is reed like grass and is very long and generally grows in wet areas or marshy lands. Following traditional use, seagrass is rarely dyed and displays a range of soft, sage green colors that become brown with age. Color variations abound, which is one of the benefits of sea-grass—it hides dirt really well.
