what kind of wood can I use to make an ooutdoor bar top? How do I prtect it from the elements?

I am looking to make a bar on my deck with a wood top. Just need to know what kind of wood and how to protect it

Just about any wood will do. Pick one with a nice grain, 2x6 to 2x8 planks. Don't use pressure treated. it looks ugly, weighs a ton, and it warps. Make your bar top, stain it, then apply several coats of exterior polyurethane, sanding lightly between coats. The polyurethane will keep the wood looking like new. For the first couple of years I'd sand lighly and re-apply 1 or 2 coats of polyurethane each Spring.
