Is this busted switch a fire hazard?

Today, I flipped a light switch, and the plastic switch (not the switchplate) broke in half. There's a little piece of metal sticking out of the bottom of the broken switch that gives a very nasty shock when touched - I touched it by accident trying to see the extent of the damage.

Certainly, I'll be calling the landlord (not that he'll actually come to fix it...) but my main question for now is: how much of a fire hazard is this?

I'm super worried, so any help anyone can give would be great.

The breaker should be turned off till the switch is repaired.
