Are tart candles better than lighting a candle?

I love candles but I was wondering if a tart candle that gets melted down or even a like candle burner ( I don't know what they are called ) where you set the candle on a burner and it melts the candle is better or more effective than just lighting a candle?
I never really though about that like the excess wax and making a whole nother candle out of it! Great idea, but still i'd like to know what one is better lighting or melting?

Personally I get more enjoyment from burning candles than using a warmer. I think the fragrance is a little different and, call me a pyro, but I enjoy the flickering flame.
